New Public Talk Series on The Politics of Basic Income
The University of Bath, Basic Income Earth Network, and Freiburg Institute of Basic Income Studies have launched a new, monthly public talk series on The Politics of Basic Income. Hosted at 4pm UK time on the 3rd Thursday of every month, these 90-minute sessions will feature expert contributions and plenty of space for questions from piloters, politicians, researchers, and activists from all over the globe. Launched in October with a session on the very live politics of basic income in South Africa, in November we’ll hear from leading US activists about how they are going about successfully building a nationwide movement for basic income. Full details, including event links, are available here.

Although not strictly a UBI experiment, the cash was delivered universally and unconditionally across an entire neighbourhood, just at a household rather than individual level. Preliminary findings strongly suggest that the combination of cash and care (in the form of community worker support) has significant beneficial impacts on participants.
