The CLARISSA Social Protection (SP) intervention
Keetie Roelen describes the new CLARISSA Social Protection (SP) intervention, a pilot based in principles of basic income with the aim to trial and evidence an innovative social policy intervention for tackling poverty, improving wellbeing, and addressing worst forms of child labour (WFCL). Implemented over a two-year period from 2021 to 2023 in a slum area in urban Dhaka, Bangladesh, it is a universal and unconditional cash plus programme. It combines a monthly cash transfer with intensive community support and case work, and includes more than 1,500 households. The programme is implemented by Terre des hommes (TDH) in Bangladesh as part of the Child Labour Action Research in South and South East Asia consortium, led by the Institute of Development Studies.

Update from Just Income Gainesville
Our pilot year of disbursements finished in February, but our research is ongoing. Some preliminary info can be found on our Impact page. We are currently in the fundraising and design phases for our next iteration to launch next year. We have also developed an e-learning platform that highlights the role a guaranteed income can play in the lives of formerly incarcerated people. We are featured in a documentary about several guaranteed income programs that will be premiering in June.
